Ski Nakiska
I know what you’re thinking. Why would I ski Nakiska, a smaller resort, when there are much larger ones nearby? Trust me, you’ll want to go check it out. And here’s why…
- Nakiska is uncrowded!
- It has a state of the art snow making machine which ensures great snow and lots of it from December to April.
- It's only 35 minutes from Canmore and the closest skiing from Calgary (45 minute drive).
- It was designed for hosting the 1988 Winter Olympics and is Alberta's youngest ski resort in the Rockies.
- Designed by the same company as the runs of Blacomb in Whistler, British Columbia.
- Runs for the expert (at the top), intermediate (middle) and beginner (bottom). So there's a slope for everyone.
Sure, you could ski in Sunshine Village or Lake Louise with their fast lifts and all. But you know, sometimes a change of pace is in order.
Maybe you like getting a taste of a different mountain. No matter what your reasons, you'll definitely enjoy skiiing Nakiska.

So your on the chairlift and depending on your personality, you are thinking four different things.
- How beautiful is this ! I wish my mom could see this.
- I’m going to take a green run to get warmed up, then a blue and after lunch, the moguls!
- YAHOOOO!
- I wonder what the elevation of this mountain is?
