Large, award winning. Ski Lake Louise, it's FABULOUS!
Lake Louise mountain resort is the largest ski area in North America. It has won many awards for its terrain, challenge, value, accommodations and dining. Britain's daily Telegraph in 1999 rated it as the #1 ski destination in the world! Here's why you should ski Lake Louise:
- With 4200 skiable acres, uniquely beautiful world class terrain and runs that suit all abilities, it’s no wonder that this resort is top notch.
- Banff and Lake Louise are the birth place of heli-skiing.Lake Louise ski resort offers daily heli-skiing that is sure to please the obvious, extreme skier who enjoys endless chutes, glades, gullies and remote bowls. We’ve never tried this kind of thrill-seeking venture but we'd love to and this is the place to do it!
- But intermediate level skiers can appreciate this type of adventure as well.
- Rated most scenic resort by Ski Magazine in 2004, 2005, Lake Louise offers guided tours for those who are new to the area and want to explore all that the four faces of the mountain have to offer.
- There are limitless off-trails to explore, super steep terrain and there are great après-ski places.
- This spectacular resort is definitely family friendly too. It offers childcare if you’re little ones are too young for a day on the slopes. And they’ll be having fun too!

So off you go! Enjoy this fabulous resort and let us know your thoughts.
This is without a doubt one of our favourite ski areas. If you're afraid of heights (like Karin is) try not to look down when riding the gondola.
One last thing… check out an up to date snow report or a live mountain webcam (3 different views). If you need to contact Lake Louise directly, call 403-256-8473.

How do I get there?
Lake Louise village and ski area is located in Banff National Park, about 184 km of Calgary and around 107 km from Canmore. You will have to purchase a Banff Park Pass. You DO need to drive a little further, but the experience of skiing a world class resort is worth the extra half hour drive (and they are expanding the Trans-Canada Highway between Banff and Lake Louise...).
