| 1. Prairie View Trail: |

- One of the most popular trails for hikers and mountain bikers, Prairie View Trail offers early season accessibility, moderate grade and great views.
- From Hwy 1, turn South on Highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail). Turn right at Barrier Dam Day Use.
- Cross Barrier Dam and stay right at the junction. At a second junction, the Prairie View Trail will branches to the left and make your climb to the Prairie View Viewpoint.
- From there you have 3 options: 1- go back the way you came; 2- head to the Jewel Pass Trail; or 3- climb to the Old Fire Lookout.
- Option 1 makes for a complete hike of approximately 9.8 Km.
- Option 2 takes you for a loop! This will be a total of approximately 13.2 Km.
- From the viewpoint, keep going until you hit the Jewell Pass Junction. Take a left onto Jewel Pass Trai.
- This trail will eventually junction with Stoney Trail (at appr. 11.5 Km). Turn left heading back to the Barrier Dam.
- Along Stoney Trail, there will be 2 consecutive junctions with trails heading right. You can take either of these trails. The first option takes you by the Barrier Lake, while the 2nd one is the trail you took on your way out at the beginning of your day.
- If you miss both these junctions and go straight, you will follow Stoney Trail all the way to Rafter Six Ranch Resort for an additional 7 Km.
- Option 3 adds about 1 Km to either of the other options.

| 2. Lusk Pass Trail: |

- To access the West trailhead, follow the Trans-Canada Hwy and turn South on highway 40 (Kananaskis Trail). Follow Hwy 40 and turn left on highway 68 (Sibbald Creek Trail). Turn left at the Lusk Creek Day Use.
- This hike is through dense forests and does not have the spectacular views that other hikes described in our lists do. However, if you are looking for a good bike ride, fun on horseback or a hike you haven't done yet, it could be of some interest to you.
- Follow the trail across Hwy 68 and cross Lusk Creek. Follow the trail up the grassy bank to join the road headed for Kananaskis Field Stations.
- Turn left at the red marker taking you onto the Lusk Creek road.
- You will pass 2 side roads heading right. After the second one, turn left at an ill-defined junction in a patch of grass. Cross Lusk Creek.
- You will now travel along the creek eventually moving away from it into a steep climb.
- The short descent that follows will take you to the highway at the east trailhead.

3. Baldy Pass Trail (North approach):

- Take Hwy 1 and turn South on Hwy 40 (Kananaskis Trail). Follow Hwy 40 and turn left onto Highway 68 Sibbald Creek Trai). Take a right into the Stoney Creek Group Camp parking lot.
- A demanding trail that offers excellent views at Baldy Pass.
- Follow the trail turning left at each junction for the first kilometer.
- You will encounter a gradual climb as you make your way to Baldy Pass. While the views are not as spectacular as those offered at the Prairie View Viewpoint to the west, they are still worth the effort.
- After the Pass, you begin your descent.
- Once you get to kilometer 12.2, you have 2 options: 1- stay straight and head towards Kananaskis Trail (Hwy 40) ; or 2- turn left towards Wasootch Day Use.
- Both options allow you to loop back to you vehicle via Hwy 40 and are great options of you are biking it (might be a tad long if you're on foot).
- Option 1 makes a loop of about 20 Km.
- Option 2 will loop back for a total of approximately 26 Km.

| 4. Stoney Trail (North trailhead): |

- After 1.6 Km you will come to a 4 way junction, with Prairie
View straight ahead and Stoney Trail to the left and right.
If you go right the trail will take you to the Rafter Six
Ranch Resort for an additional 7 Km.
- Take a and head to Kananaskis Village. You will eventually be able to see Barrier Lake to your left.
- You will hit the most beautiful part of your trek after the Jewell Bay Camp-ground where you'll find open meadows and wildflowers.
- The trail ends at Stoney Day Use near Kananaskis Village.
- You can loop back via Kananaskis Trail (Hwy 40) for an additional 15 Km or so. You could also head back the way you came. The views allway seem different on the reverse trip!
