On top of all the other activities in the Rockies, there are several annual events in Canmore. You are sure to have many reasons to visit and at different times of the year.

We've also included in our list of events, festivals and contests that take place in Kananaskis and the Banff Provincial Park. Their ease of access and proximity to town make them part of what Canmore has to offer. But don't forget, if you're heading into Banff you'll need a park pass.

Canmore Winter Carnival

When: Feb. 12-27
Where: Town of Canmore
What: Organised outdoor games and activities like ice sculpting competition, AJHL hockey, skating, dancing, great food, music and the famous Kid 'n Mutt Race.

Rocky Mountain Ski Marathon

When: March 31-April 1
Where: Canmore Nordic Centre, Town of Canmore
What: Hosted by the Canmore Nordic Centre Ski Club, this event is a cross-country challenge. Note: all competitors get special rates at the Rocky Mountain Ski Lodge.

Canada Day Celebration

When: July 1 (every year)

What: Celebrate the special joys of being Canadian! Pancake breakfast, a very popular parade boasting local floats and a marching band, good food and great fun and games. You will want to arrive early...

Miners' Day

When: mid-July
Where: Canmore townsite
What: As you may know, Canmore has a rich mining history. This is celebrated year round in Canmore on Miners' Day. Celebrations include a parade, speaches and a luncheon for ex-miners and their family.

24 Hours of Adrenaline

When: July 17-18
Where: Canmore Nordic Centre, Canmore
What: Presently the fastest growing mountain biking event in North America (the 2007 event sold out in 4 days). Massive relays, solo races or team races.

I Dig Rocks

When: Aug. 18, 2007
Where: Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre
What: A 2 hour program for kids (6 - 8) who love rocks and fossils. What are fossils? Where do rocks and fossils come from? Just a few of the questions that are answered during the program.

Festival of the Eagles
