Equipment - to own or to rent

Canmore has many many outdoor activities waiting for you to experience. However, some of us are not as well equipped as we might like to be. We have created this page in order to help you get on your way to great outdoor adventures in Canmore.

For some situations it is best to rent equipment. Activities such as canoeing, rafting, skidooing and activities that we don't tend to participate in frequently, are more cost effective when we can rent the equipment. For equipment rentals click here.

However, some activities ask for more personal equipment like boots, shoes or specialty clothing. For these such activities, it might be recommended to buy your own. For instance, the saying "walk a mile in someone else's shoes" hardly applies to activities such as hiking.

Fortunately, you can find all the equipment you need on specialty outdoor retailers. A great example of such a website is Backcountry.com. They are dedicated to being "the best online retailer of the best built outdoor and backcountry gear". It's your one stop outdoor shop!

Downhill skiing rentals

If you want to experience some skiing BEFORE you take the plunge and purchase your own equipment, all 5 of the ski resorts mentioned in our skiing page have equipment rentals.

Note: the prices below are calculated averages that can be used to compare prices. They depend on length of rental and type of equipment rented. Click on the links to access detailed pricing for each resort.
